Why We Hired A Wedding Caterer

I got married to my sweet and loving husband a couple of years ago after being in a long-distance relationship for 5 years. Being in that kind of relationship was very hard for us. Since I was on the other side of the planet, we needed to plan our wedding on Skype. You see, our plan was for me to get to the US, and then have the wedding after 1 week — which gave us just enough time to process the wedding license but not enough time to actually plan every single thing. Could you tell we were excited to get married? LOL

I’m just so glad that we had tons of church friends to help us out. The pastor was very kind and did not charge us with any rental fee for using the sanctuary and all the equipment for the ceremonies. The church members took charge of the flowers and decorations, the aisle set up, the altar set up, the music, and the ushering. We didn’t have any problem regarding the ceremonies because lots of people volunteered to help.

The reception was more of a challenge for us. The program wasn’t a problem since we already have friends at church who volunteered to take care of the program and the music. But we needed a space that could accommodate 100 people and be able to offer great food to everyone. And we needed to make sure that it would fit our budget. Admittedly, we found managing wedding budget to be quite difficult, especially with things like rings and dresses to accommodate for.

We were blessed to have found out that one of my husband’s closest friends was able to help a 5-star hotel close a very big deal with McDonald’s earlier that month. So this friend helped my husband talk to the manager of this expensive hotel about having our wedding reception there. And to our surprise, the manager gave us a steep discount for the venue and the wedding caterer!

Having a wedding caterer helped us so much and gave us peace of mind that we didn’t have to worry about having to cook for 100 people. We didn’t have to keep asking if we’ve prepared enough variety in food and if the food tasted great because we just needed to meet with the caterer once and that’s it. It helped us focus on the many other details about the wedding.

We had some friends who decided to not have a wedding caterer for their reception. And though the food was still great and they were able to present it nicely, I don’t think I would have been able to handle the stress of having to think about whether the food is still warm or if we still had enough of each course for everyone or if everyone had drinks. That would have been too much for me.

So if I had to do it all again, I would definitely say a wedding caterer is a must.

This is a sponsored post for Caterman Catering. Regardless, all the points and views are my own.

  4. You did the right thing by having a caterer. I would have loved to have had a big wedding ceremony but my wife and I were the only ones at our wedding. We have been considering renewing our wedding vows and having a ceremony. It would be wonderful to have a caterer and invite some close friends and relatives. I’m glad everything worked out fine for you.

  5. If I ever get married, I wouldn’t have enough people at my wedding to make a caterer worth the money, haha.

    • same here!! i’d have a cake done… and probably buy a few meat/cheese or veggie trays from the local grocery store. and if the guests aren’t happy, they can just find a different wedding to go to… lol

  10. Preparing your own food for the wedding can be very stressful and the bride and groom already have so many other things that need to be taken care of. I agree that the caterer is the way to go. There are alot of them out there and if one looks hard enough they should be able to find one that is affordable. Thank you so much for sharing
