I have been so excited these past few days because I found out that my eldest sister and her family will be visiting me for the holidays. It will be their family’s first visit to California and it will also be the first time I’m seeing them ever since I moved here and got married. They’ll only be staying in California for about 2 weeks so I’m really thinking about their itinerary and accommodations. My plan is for them to stay here in San Jose for 2 days. Then we’ll head over to Los Angeles where most of our relatives are.
I’ve only been to Southern California four times and each time, my husband and I would realize that we could have planned our trip better. Two times, hubby and I settled for a hotel that would only charge us $50 per night (regularly $121). But the drawback is that it’s a 45-minute drive from Hollywood where we spent most of our time. So imagine how tired hubby was because of the long drive. Yes, 45 minutes for me is LOOOOONG especially when we’re on vacation and supposed to be relaxing!
This time, hubby and I have resolved to get a place that’s actually just a couple of minutes from Hollywood since we’re basically touring my sister’s family in that area and that’s where most of our relatives live. Now I just need to research on hotels, restaurants and activities that we can do while we’re there. And I’ve found a site that can help me do just that – Gogobot!
Based on the listings for Los Angeles in Gogobot, we could stay at the Chateau Marmont. Their rate starts at $70 and it’s strategically located very near Sunset Blvd so that’s awesome! No more long drives for us! The photos on the site are also breathtaking and the average rating for this hotel is about 4.5!
As for our activities, I can easily see so many possibilities! For sure we’re going to Universal Studios, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Rodeo Drive since we’re already in the vicinity. We could probably go and take some photos at the Staples Center since my nephew is a huge LA Lakers fan. I’m not too sure if they’d want to go to Disneyland though since it’s just too expensive but maybe my niece and nephew would be interested in Magic Mountain.
We’ll definitely eat at some really nice restaurants in the area. There’s Thai BBQ which is my and hubby’s favorite! And there’s also Porto’s. I’ll need to read up on more Gogobot reviews on restaurants so I can decide which on we can try.
